T5W: Books you are Thankful for

Welcome back to another Top 5 Wednesday!

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at Ginger Reads Lainey. Here is a link to the Goodreads page if you want to join in on the fun. This week our top 5 Wednesday is books we are grateful for as it is American Thanksgiving tomorrow.

5. Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

I am thankful for Alice in Wonderland because it taught me that your imagination is a beautiful thing, and that whatever you do you should never let anyone tell you that your imagination is too wild.

4. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S Lewis

This book brings back such strong memories of my Year 3 teacher Mrs Heard, a woman I am truly grateful for her belief in me and her support when I wasn’t strong enough to believe in myself. For half an hour every week she would read to us from the Chronicles of Narnia and I loved it.

3. Just Kids by Patti Smith

This is one of my favourite books of all time and the only non-fiction book on this list. This is a beautiful and heartbreaking memoir. This book taught me that love and friendship is beautiful, painful and special.

2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

I read this during my English Literature A Levels, and it not only brings back lovely memories but it made me realise my love of classics in a way none of my other English titles ever did. It is a wonderful novel and I love it. It holds a special place for me.

1. Harry Potter Series by J K Rowling

favim

This was my series. I grew up reading these novels and they were to me the first books I read alone. I remember begging my mum to pick it up for me and her withholding it until we went away on holiday. It was the novels that began my love of reading. So for that I will always be grateful.
